Happy Birthday Baby Boy!!

One year ago today, at 7:07 p.m., we welcomed our precious baby boy Jackson  into our arms (all 9lb 7oz of him).   Our lives will be forever changed and we are blessed.
The celebration started on the weekend as I dusted off my cake decorating supplies and made him a banana cake with cream cheese frosting to celebrate with my family.   I love to decorate cakes for my kiddos but it has been a few years since I have taken the time, so it was a fun labor of love as I reflected on our year.
He loved it, and there is something about banana cake that makes it feel alright to sugar up your baby!
He also enjoyed his own special cake at Grandma Hiebert's later in the evening.
For his actual birthday today, we went to the zoo.  This orangutan followed his stroller and and then sat down and peered out of the glass at him.  Jackson giggled and was intrigued.  They sat staring at each other for quite a while.
We finished off our day with a family party at home.  Nevaeh insisted on party hats for Jackson when we were at the store a few days ago so we got some plain colored ones and everyone raided the art cabinet and decorated their own.  She spent lots of time decorating a special one for Jackson.  It was such a sweet idea.  Bentley decorated with banners and streamers and everyone was excited to make his day special.
I think we wore him out and hopefully he has sweet dreams of his Birthday!  We couldn't leave the zoo without an orangutan to remember our adventures.

Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.  Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth.  Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. Psalm 127:3-5A
